BessyB-TV

Well, great technological obstacles have been leapt over at Bessy’s HQ with the recent launch of Bessy TV! Getting to grips with the intricacies of collecting video clips, preparing them and then uploading them to Bessy’s very own YouTube channel, despite leaving me a little sleep deprived and a tad irritable, has given me a very strong sense of achievement! It would be fair to say that although I am interested and actually quite enthusiastic about modern technology in many ways, my forty-something year old brain does struggle to keep up!

“So why add to life’s ever increasing challenges?” I hear you ask…or was that my inner voice?

I came up with the idea of Bessy-TV as we were building our new website. I was enjoying working on the interactive features of the site and BessyB-TV seemed like the obvious next step. As well as a platform to display moments from our shows and projects, one of its main aims is to demonstrate that Bessy Bass is for everyone. It is not a project solely for double bassists and enthusiasts but one that can be enjoyed by all children and their families, whether they have found their instrument of choice or not. Some of our audience may just enjoy listening and watching, others might be inspired to want to learn to play the trombone, the violin or maybe the double bass. Current instrumentalists and vocalists might be inspired to practise more by hearing and seeing what others are doing. Some may want to take advantage of this performance platform and be part of Bessy TV themselves, by sending in videos of their own performances. Whatever the reason, as we gradually build up our library of video clips demonstrating all of what Bessy Bass has to offer, we strive to open another door into the wonderful world of music and inspire creativity.

Encouraging children to spend time on their screens may be frowned upon…and I did give it a great deal of thought. But, technology is here to stay. There’s no getting away from it and there is definitely no going back! So my intention is to use it positively, as a means of communication and as a stimulus for creativity. I hope Bessy TV will help Bessy to reach as wide an audience as possible, as she continues to encourage children and their families to join her in her adventures as she learns more and more about music and life.

It certainly keeps her musician on her toes and those brain cells turning over, which can only be a good thing…right?!
